About the show:

“It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice... or take a stand... or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for a New World. The first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make. This contemporary song cycle weaves characters and history together, illuminating the timelessness of self-discovery.” - mtishows.com

Join the powerhouse cast as we join together to bring this epic musical journey to life. Our Productions Theatre Co. will take Jason Robert Brown’s stellar score and show, from this 1994 production with a cult following, and show how the music and lyrics are highly relevant to life in 2026. Songs for a New World will hold a mirror to current events, and instill hope that with the love of our community, compassion and kindness towards each other, we can have a beautiful future.

Featuring a blended professional artists along with community cast members, the show features a live band under the direction of Mark Mullino, Musical Director. Audiences are sure to have their hearts touched and their musical senses engaged on this fantastic musical journey from the Deck of a Spanish Sailing Ship to 57 stories above Fifth Avenue, and everything in between, we meet an array of characters who all have a choice to make.

Director Stephanie Riggs and Choreographer Alex Davison lead you to ponder the question, “When you are backed against a wall, what do you choose? The new or the old?”
