Half the Sky

2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, the culmination of the women’s suffrage movement in the United States. We celebrate this great success while recognizing that much of the work of attaining gender equality remains undone. According to a Chinese aphorism, “women hold up half the sky”—we are all blessed when our community and our world works to unleash everyone’s full potential.

As this anniversary arrives, CAE is excited to sing a concert of music by female composers, including a world premiere by Karen P. Thomas, Artistic Director and Conductor of the Seattle Pro Musica.
