The five unmarried Mundy sisters live in a cottage outside the village of Ballybeg, County Donegal, Ireland. In August 1936, the villagers celebrate Lughnasa, the harvest festival in honor of the pagan god Lugh. The sisters well-ordered lives are shattered by the return of their older brother after 25 years in Africa and two visits by the father of the youngest sister’s illegitimate son.
Widely regarded as Irish playwright Brian Friel's masterpiece, this haunting memory play is a tribute to five brave women.
