ELGAR CELLO CONCERTO

WMP opens its season with Gwyneth Walker’s dramatic setting of Langston Hughes famous poem, Let America be America Again. Virgil Thomson’s witty Symphony takes hymn tunes and other Americana to a different and thoroughly enjoyable level. Maryland Symphony cellist Molly Jones performs Elgar’s beloved and poetic Cello Concerto, his last work for orchestra.
