Gathering & Making Paint with Earth Pigments Saturday, November 16, 9:00-4:00
This workshop explores ancient ways of creating with mineral pigments. Working with local earth can foster within our creative practice a deeper narrative of place and relationship with the land. We will spend the morning outside collecting pigment-rich rocks and clays around Dalton. We will then process our gathered materials and prepare our own set of six watercolor paints. The day will end with a bit of time to paint with these beautiful colors.
Materials for students to bring: bags or containers for gathering pigments, a small hand trowel, painting materials (watercolor paper, brushes, mixing trays, pencil, etc.), and feel free to bring your own gathered pigments
Materials provided by the instructor: mortar and pestles, sieves, paint making tools and supplies
$175 per student, includes choice of lunch
