Sweetheart/Bitter Heart
Alli Marshall

A reluctant Valentine’s Day party / enthusiastic spoken-word performance celebrating relationship anxiety in its many forms. Performance poet Alli Marshall will explore the various aversions to intimacy — from fear of abandonment and fear of engulfment to polite ghosting and colony collapse — though words, performance art, chocolate, and party games such as “Pin the Dagger on the Heart” and “Smash Romance like a Damn Piñata.” Yes, parallels will be drawn between commitment phobia and climate change. Yes, there will be an awkward slow dance. No, Alli can’t help you find your soulmate, but you can exorcise your own relationship anxieties while crafting Valentines for incarcerated folx.

Okapi debuts segments of "Carousel (Part II)"

Okapi is an avant-garde acoustic duo comprised of upright bass, cello, and voice. They perform eclectic songs with the mission of encouraging individual empowerment, healthy growth, universal consciousness, and honest expression. Their doctrine is articulated in their conceptual album, "Carousel" which is spanned over two parts, the second of which they will debut. Their performances are both aggressively confrontational and intimately inviting.
