Johannes Brahms

A German Requiem

(1871 London Version)

Ein deutsches Requiem received its premiere at the Leipzig Gewandhaus in 1869.

Originally scored for large chorus and orchestra, Brahms himself reworked the orchestral parts for piano, four hands, to be performed with a smaller chorus in a private home in London, in 1871.
