PATRA: Opera in Two Acts

Monday, March 23 at 7:30pm

This thrilling new opera filled with enchanting melodies brings to life the seductive world of Cleopatra. Having defeated his rival Marc Antony, General Octavian marches into Egypt determined to make Cleopatra his slave. But Cleopatra is determined to somehow save herself and her four children. Her only hope is to win the love of a third Roman Consul and General. Can she do it? With comedy, intrigue and an epic battle of wills, this popular sounding opera reveals the woman behind the legend and her influence over the man who becomes Augustus Caesar.

Have the rare opportunity to see an up-and-coming new work and engage with the writers. Presented theatrically in a concert style with professional singers, costumes, a snake dancer and narration, PATRA has just returned from a lauded performance in upstate New York with the American Center for New Works Development at the prestigious Seagle Music Colony.
