CCP's The Yearling, The Musical
February 11th, 13th, 14th and February 18th, 19th, 20th
Capital City Productions is honored to present an extraordinary cast in an extraordinary story—the Midwestern premiere of “The Yearling,” a musical the entire family can enjoy together in February in Central Bank Auditorium.
Based on Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings best selling,
Pulitzer Prize winning novel, “The Yearling” tells the story of Jody Baxter, the son of a backwoods farming family eking out a living in the Florida scrub shortly after the Civil War.
The heartwarming tale is about the boy’s love for his pet fawn Flag, a man and woman’s love for their son, and the difficult lessons life throws in their path.
Many will remember the beloved movie adaptation of “The Yearling,” starring Gregory Peck and Jane Wyman.
Now the Broadway musical version comes to the Capital City Productions stage with a score so beautiful that Barbra Streisand recorded four of its memorable songs on her first three albums.
“The Yearling” will bring Jefferson City star Dingani Beza home from his successful Hollywood career to portray father Ezra Baxter.
Dingani started his theatre career at Capital City Productions where he brought leading characters in “Take Me Out,” “Lillies of the Field,” “Dreamgirls,” “Superior Donuts,” “ A Few Good Men,” and “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner” to life.
His film credits include “Marshall’s Miracle,” “23 Minutes To Sunrise,” “Jump In: The Movie,”. and “Jack and Jill.”
Among Dingani’s many television credits are “The Cool Kids,” “The Carmichael Show,” “Harry’s Law,” and “90210.”
CCP audiences can see Dingani soon in one of the most highly anticipated films of 2021—“BLACK.”
Starring as his wife Ora is one of CCP’s finest actresses, Margaret Graham. Margaret has electrified CCP audiences in starring roles in shows such as “Streetcar Named Desire,” “Cat On A Hot Tin Roof,” and “All My Sons.” Her portrayal of Sally Bowles in “Cabaret” was a stage triumph.
Their son Jody Baxter is played by a young man whose singing, dancing, and acting have taken the CCP stage by storm. Cole Riney, who astounded CCP audiences in the title role of “Billy Elliott The Musical” takes on the challenging role of this boy whose life lessons bring him to manhood.
Evening performances of “The Yearling” are February 11, 13, 18, 19, and 20. Doors open at 6 pm, dinner is served at 6:30 pm, and the show is at 7:30 pm.
