A Series of Readings and Workshop Productions
Sunday, July 26, 2021 @ 6:30pm
As a theatre company devoted to nurturing and developing new works for the stage, New World Theatre is excited to have the opportunity to present a workshop production of four new plays this season at the Hatbox Theatre. These works will be performed script-in-hand with limited staging, props, lighting, and sound.
A Series of Inelastic Collisions - A new play by playwright, Eugenie Carabatsos.
After the death of her husband, Rain moves in with her estranged son, whose recent religious conversion has brought on major life changes, including fostering two teenagers. Isolated from her family, Rain finds connection and intimacy with the strangers she interacts with while phone-banking for her preferred presidential candidate.
An intense family drama that touches on all the third-rail topics: Politics and Religion. Throw in marital issues, child foster care, and familial estrangement, and you have a story that explores the personal inelastic collisions that are not easy to bounce back from.
