Celebrating the joy that music brings to our lives, the first concert of our 19th season will move from contemplation to celebration. Opening with “The Awakening” for choir and orchestra by Joseph Martin, the powerful text describes a world of silence and then erupts into the joyous exclamation, “Let music never die in me, forever let my spirit sing, let music live!” The Chorale and Women in Song will continue with this theme throughout the concert singing “If Music Be the Food of Love,” “Come to the Music,” and other texts about how music touches our lives. The orchestra will play Beethoven’s powerful “Egmont Overture,” a short Haydn symphony, and other rousing favorites. The ensembles will join together at the end for a memorable finale.

Patrons are asked to wear masks until seated. Seats will be marked to allow for social distancing.
