Episode 2.3: Phoenix of Mexico

Bassoonist Catalina Guevara Víquez Klein, violinist Karin Cuellar Rendon (last seen in SalonEra’s popular Latin Baroque episode), and soprano Raquel Winnica Young each have a personal connection to “The Phoenix of Mexico,” Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (1648-1695). In this special episode, the three musicians explore the legacy of de la Cruz as a poet, composer, and protofeminist through new remote collaborations and conversation.
