Madison College Talks presents a conversation about the contribution from Black Culinary and its influence on America's cuisine by Dr. Jessica Harris, culinary critic, and best-selling author of "High on the Hog." Jessica B. Harris is considered by many to be one of the ranking authorities on the food of the African Diaspora. A New York Times bestselling author, she is the author, editor, or translator of eighteen books, including twelve cookbooks documenting the foodways of the African Diaspora. Her award-winning book, High on the Hog, was the basis for the acclaimed Netflix series of the same name.

The Yams and Sweet Potatoes: Black Culinary series includes demonstrations, tastings, and presentations to celebrate Black cuisine that has influenced America and the world. This is brought to you by the Office of Equity and Inclusion and the Community Engagement Office at Madison College. The purpose of this series is Black culinary and its rich heritage in professional cooking.

Madison College Talks will introduce a list of speakers and cultural experiences centered around a community issue. The purpose is to provide attendees an opportunity to explore different perspectives through critical thought and crucial conversations. These presentations are free and open to all who have tickets.  Seating is on a first come first served basis.
