| GRAND DRAMA & COMEDY CLUB
THE COMPANION PLAN by Robert O. Davis
The Grand Drama & Comedy Club opens its new 2025-2026 season with a heartwarming play written by Robert O. Davis entitled THE COMPANION PLAN. This production will reveal the importance of relationships in life, as patrons enjoy lots of humor, meeting quirky characters, and in the end, presented with what is valuable in this stage of life.
Synopsis by Robert O. Davis: The question is: Can or should a dying husband find a companion for his wife to take his place? He thinks it is a wonderful and noble thing to do, but his wife disagrees. When she finds out he has advertised for a companion, she is irate but decides to go along with interviewing the three respondents. With the help of her close friend and neighbor, they interview a mechanic, an actor and an importer.
All seem to need more help than they can offer the soon-to-be widow. There is even more complication in this two-act comedy, which has a surprising and heartwarming ending.

FALL LEAVES IN OAK CREEK CANYON
Rated one of the Top 5 Most Scenic Drives by Rand McNally, the Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Road is at its most spectacular during the fall season! Our adventure begins in historic downtown Flagstaff, where we’ll enjoy lunch on self, with several wonderful restaurants to choose from. Back in the Transits, we’ll travel south on Arizona 89A — a 14-mile stretch of high-country switchbacks — with stops along the way at dramatic overlooks. And if that’s not enough, the Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Road turns onto the Red Rock Scenic Byway, Arizona’s first All-American Road. Often called “The Museum Without Walls,” the Red Rock Scenic Byway in Sedona is visited by travelers from around the world. It cannot be overstated how fortunate we are that these two breathtaking scenic byways are just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Valley
— and ours to enjoy with every changing season! Do not miss this Kindred Tours fall classic!

FALL COLORS ON THE VERDE CANYON RAILROAD
The Verde Canyon Railroad offers us a wonderful opportunity to experience the beauty of the canyon from the comfort of a fully restored, slow-rolling vintage FP7 locomotive—one of only 10 remaining in North America. This four-hour excursion carries us on a 20-mile journey through more than a century of history. We’ll pass ancient Sinagua Indian ruins set high in the cliffs and travel across sturdy trestles and bridges—a lasting testament to the men who built them more than 100 years ago. The route also includes a 680-foot tunnel blasted from solid rock—briefly enveloping passengers in darkness before reemerging into Arizona sunshine. Early November is one of the most spectacular times to visit Verde Canyon. The riparian corridor along the Verde River bursts into seasonal color as towering cottonwoods and stately sycamores turn brilliant shades of gold and amber, often contrasting dramatically with the red canyon walls and evergreen junipers above. This rare blend of high desert and lush river habitat creates a kaleidoscope of fall beauty—made even more magical when viewed from the train’s panoramic windows. All seats are FIRST CLASS. We’ll enjoy spacious living room–style seating and near-panoramic views. Other amenities include a champagne toast upon boarding, full-service cash bars, table service, and pre-packaged complimentary appetizers. We’ll arrive early at the depot to enjoy a light lunch, on self, prior to boarding the train. The Verde Canyon Railroad is remarkable in every season—join us for this unforgettable fall journey!

A GREATER LOESSER MOMENT – a Musical Tribute by Robert O. Davis, adapted by Matt Newhard
The Grand Drama & Comedy Club proudly presents its 2026 musical production, A GREATER LOESSER MOMENT, a tribute created by playwright Robert O. Davis and adapted by Matt Newhard. This is an original compilation of Frank Loesser's works, providing our audiences with a musical journey through the decades.
In a down-on-its-luck bar, seven strangers wander in off the street and are swept into an unforgettable night where music and memory intertwine. This chance encounter blossoms into unexpected friendships, demonstrating how the power of song can bring people together. Audiences will be carried through decades of Loesser’s remarkable career with 27 timeless numbers—favorites like “Luck Be a Lady,” “Once in Love with Amy,” “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” “Standing on the Corner,” and “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” Between the songs, glimpses of Loesser’s own story unfold, from Hollywood hits to wartime anthems to Broadway triumphs, reminding us that his legacy lives on every time his words are sung.
