The Grand Forks Master Chorale is proud to present "The Sacred Veil,

' a powerful, thought-provoking, new 12-movement work scored for choir, cello, and piano from composer Eric Whitacre and poet-lyricist Charles Anthony Silvestri.

Silvestri's wife, Julie, died of ovarian cancer at age 36 in 2005, leaving behind two young children. His texts (written collaboratively with Whitacre) tell a story of courtship, love, loss and the search for solace. This 56-minute work was described by Grant Gershon as Whitacre’s 'Requiem'.

This concert will be in memoriam of members of the Grand Forks/East Grand Forks community, and the UND community, and the Chorales that have fought the battle and lost to cancer.

There will be a free-will donation after the concert with proceeds going towards the Hope Foundation of North Dakota.

This concert is funded in part thanks to the generosity of the Community Foundations of Grand Forks-East Grand Forks, the Myra Foundation, and the North Dakota Council on the Arts.
