Director choreographer Donna Blatt Ervin along with choreographer Heather Vencill, and their talented group of 15 dancers take to the stage to share works developed in the 2 years since their last recital concert.

With emphasis on technique and physicality, contemporary and classical styles of Modern dance are combined to create an evening of entertaining and dynamic performance.
The 15 dances on the program offers thought provoking choreography. Original works depict personal introspection, solace found in nature, the issue of immigration, the importance of community and our place within it.
Other dances are created simply to share their of love of dance and it’s endless possibilities for expression.

Whether soaring above the stage with big leaps and precarious turns or with simple gestures and quiet undulations each dance provides a glimpse of life through movement.

Guest performances include musical interludes by the award winning Corvallis High School Chamber Music.

Actress and director Kimberly Gifford Olbrich appears with moving recitations of poems in conjunction with several dances.
Adding to the lineup are new and original works by MDT alumni who continue to pursue their dance education and performance experience.

Additionally, dances choreographed by current members of MDT’s Advanced Performance Group ensures that the 31st Annual Spring Celebration of Dance will be an evening of performances everyone can enjoy while demonstrating the past, present and bright future of Modern dance.
