The defining sound of late rock band Jethro Tull was from none other than Martin Barre, the band’s key guitarist from 1968, all the way up to their final tour in 2014.

After the end of Jethro Tull, Barre immediately began his solo career. He transitioned his sound slightly once becoming a soloist, performing in genres such as rock, blues, and acoustic. Despite his shift in sound, his technical yet emotional presentation of music stayed the same. His unique presentation has won him many awards, the most notable being a Grammy Award with for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance in 1989.

A Brief History of Jethro Tull captivates those who enjoyed the band in its prime and beyond, and those who just enjoy a good, old fashioned rock concert or live music. If you are in any of these categories, this is a show that you will not want to miss!

Sean Chambers began his career in 1998; playing guitar on tour with Chicago blues legend Hubert Sumlin. While touring with him, Chambers was recognized as one of the top 50 blues guitarists of the last century by Britain’s Guitarist Magazine. He also released his debut album, Strong Temptation, that same year. Chambers has released many highly acclaimed albums since then. After the release of The Rock House Sessions in 2011, it was nominated by the Blues Blast Music Awards for “Best Blues Rock Album of the Year”. His 2017 album Trouble & Whiskey and 2018 album Welcome to my Blues both charted on the Billboard Blues Albums Chart for multiple weeks. His latest album, That’s What I’m Talkin’ About, was released in 2021 as a tribute to Hubert Sumlin.

Not only have they written and performed original music, but Donna the Buffalo was a founding group and the host of annual Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance in Trumansburg, New York, which was where the group was founded.

Zachary Bartholomew: Rodolfo Zuniga’s “Surfaces” Featuring Saxophonist Jeff Ellwood

Los Angeles based, Costa Rican drummer Rodolfo Zuniga’s "Surfaces” is an expression of his highly creative approach to orchestration on the drums. Zuniga envisioned the compositions written for this group with Piano, Tenor Saxophone, Upright Bass and Drums as “Surfaces” for improvisation and organic interaction. Zuniga’s “Surfaces” highlights compositions and arrangements conceived at the crossroads of music native country, Costa Rica, and it’s application in modern jazz. For this performance, Rodolfo is featuring Los Angeles based saxophonist Jeff Ellwood.

Zuniga and Ellwood, both composers and critically acclaimed bandleaders on their own, decided to join forces for this special quartet where they can present their original, global-influenced, contemporary jazz, mainly evoking elements from their diverse experiences as emerging artists in Miami, Boston, and Los Angeles.

Monroe Crossing has been a notable part of the Minnesota music scene. Though they have a heavy inspiration from Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass himself, Monroe Crossing has made a name for themselves with original music and performances. They were awarded the “Bluegrass Album of the Year” by the Minnesota Music Academy and were inducted into Minnesota’s Music Hall of Fame in 2016. They have also twice attended the “world of Bluegrass” convention, hosted by the International Bluegrass Music Association, and have also made appearances at the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Monroe Crossing has been performing hundreds of shows each year, for over 20 years, and soon they’ll be making their way to Arts Bonita in southwest Florida!

The Weight Band

The Weight Band originated in 2013 inside the famed Woodstock, New York barn of Levon Helm when Jim Weider and Randy Ciarlante —both former members of The Band— performed “Songs of The Band” with Band founder Garth Hudson. Inspired to carry on the rock band's legacy, Weider (guitar, mandolin, vocals), and Ciarlante began performing fan favorites from The Band catalog to audiences across the country, inviting Brian Mitchell (keyboards, organ, accordion, vocals) to complete their sound. The Weight Band later added Albert Rogers (bass, vocals), Matt Zeiner (keyboards, vocals), and Michael Bram (drums, vocals) to make up their current lineup with Weider and Mitchell. After years of touring, The Weight Band recorded a new album of original material, capturing The Band’s musical tradition and packaging for today’s Americana base.

Uri Guvich

Uri Gurvich is a composer, saxophonist and educator who pairs improvised music with the global sounds of the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe, and South America. Based in New York City since 2005, Gurvich won acclaim as a bandleader with his albums, The Storyteller and BabEl, released on John Zorn’s label, Tzadik, and featuring some of the most prominent voices on the contemporary jazz scene: Argentinian pianist Leo Genovese, Bulgarian bassist Peter Slavov, Cuban drummer Francisco Mela. All Music Guide called Gurvich “a major new voice in jazz,” while The Los Angeles Times wrote that his music “transcends borders.” His third album, KINSHIP, was released on the French label, Jazz Family, and premiered at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Gurvich and his quartet have performed at premier venues in the U.S. such as the Village Vanguard, Town Hall, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Atlanta Jazz Festival, Burlington Jazz Festival, and The Stone. He also performs regularly in Europe and South America with his own projects and with the World Citizen Band.

Gurvich has shared the stage and recorded with such artists as: Esperanza Spalding, John Zorn, Billy Cobham, The Mingus Big Band, Dave Douglas, Lionel Loueke, Chris Potter, Dave Liebman, Ben Monder, George Garzone, Jorge Rossy, Paquito D'Rivera, Uri Caine, Anat Cohen and Django Bates, among others.

A special party years in the making! Sudamerica Latin Groove and a host of special guests will make you dream, dance, and enjoy the incredibly diverse music of SLG’s debut album, with original songs, original arrangements and some unique versions of favorite songs.

Sudamerica Latin Groove (SLG), formerly known as The Funky Tones, is a dynamic band renowned for seamlessly blending funk, jazz, rock, pop, world music, classical, and latin rhythms. Founded in 2013 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, the band has evolved into a musical powerhouse celebrating the cultural fusion of South and North American influences. Now based in Naples, Florida, SLG features a lineup of seasoned musicians from diverse South American backgrounds: Dorian Mendez (Argentina) music direction and bass, Everton Vidal (Brazil) on guitar, Alejandro Yaguaracuto (Venezuela) on drums, Renan Gerstenberger (Paraguay) on keyboards, and Kevin Morato (Bolivia) as vocalist, complemented by sound engineer Ezequiel Soliz (Bolivia). Renowned for their infectious music that exudes vitality, Sudamerica Latin Groove seamlessly merges traditional and contemporary elements. Their electrifying performances have positioned them as an emerging force in the SWFL music scene, creating a distinctive and vibrant sound that deeply resonates with diverse audiences.

Horace Silver’s ensembles, compositions, and piano playing defined one of the most musically-rich periods of jazz: Hard Bop. Silver’s music takes the fiery virtuosity of bebop, the soulful feeling of the blues, and combines it with sophisticated (and catchy) arrangements and compositions. This concert celebrates the music of Silver’s benchmark album Horace-Scope with an all-star band assembled by Resident Artist Dr. Zachary Bartholomew who will be playing the role of Horace Silver in this energetic, swinging, and blues-tinged show!
