Hailing from the town of Soweto, the birthplace of South Africa’s democracy movement, the Soweto Gospel Choir inspires audiences around the world with its powerful blend of African gospel, freedom songs, US Civil Rights songs (including heartfelt renditions of works by legendary artists such as Billie Holiday, James Brown, Otis Redding, Curtis Mayfield, and Aretha Franklin), and international classics. The Soweto Gospel Choir has appeared with Aretha Franklin and with Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, U2, Diana Ross, Peter Gabriel, Chris Martin, John Legend, Pharrell Williams, Jimmy Cliff, Ben Harper, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Hugh Masakela, and other renowned artists.
