The multiple-Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer, known around the world for its dazzling virtuosity, has been hailed as “the world’s reigning male chorus” (The New Yorker). “The singing of Chanticleer is breathtaking in its accuracy of intonation, purity of blend, variety of color and swagger of style” (Boston Globe). Now in its 44th season, the San Francisco-based 12-member “orchestra of voices” has a vast repertoire, ranging from its roots in the Renaissance to a variety of classical, gospel, jazz, and popular music, with a deep commitment to the commissioning of new compositions and arrangements. The group has an international fan base and tours widely, while maintaining an active education and outreach schedule in their home state. Chanticleer has produced over 50 recordings and earned many coveted awards—including, in 2008, the distinction of becoming the first vocal group to be inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame in Cincinnati, Ohio.
