Harold Hill, a traveling salesman with a shady reputation, arrives in the small town of River City, Iowa, to sell the locals everything they need to start a marching band - from instruments to music lessons. There is a catch … Hill doesn’t know anything about music and plans to leave town before that is uncovered. Marian, the prim and proper town librarian, suspects his intentions; but as the two get to know each other, they fall in love and discover the best in themselves. In the end, Harold inspires the entire town and finds his heart and home.
