Founded in Paris in 2009, Trio Karénine takes its name from Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. The trio of Charlotte Juillard (violin), Louis Rodde (cello), and Paloma Kouider (piano) has been acclaimed by critics and audiences for their musical integrity and passionate interpretation and was the top prizewinner at the A.R.D. International Competition in 2013.
Trio Karenine’s discography displays a wide repertoire. Their first recording, dedicated to Schumann piano trios, was released in 2016 and was rewarded with five Diapasons and international acclaim. The trio subsequently released an album dedicated to Maurice Ravel, Gabriel Fauré, and Germaine Tailleferre in 2018 and a recording of Dvorak, Shostakovich, and Weinberg trios in 2019. The most recent album, a program of transcriptions (Schönberg, Liszt, Schumann), was released in 2021 and received five Diapasons and five stars from Classica Magazine.
