This quintessentially American opera was created by Kurt Weill.  Weill was a German born composer who immigrated to the United States to flee anti-Semitism.  His life story of entering the multi-culturalism of America is enveloped in the storyline of STREET SCENE.

This opera combines the parallel cultures of New York, defined, block by block, by ethnicity, into one single building where the cultures collide.

This iteration of STREET SCENE is set in the 1960’s in New York City.
