MountainTop Masterworks II: Beethoven & A Bohemian Queen
Saturday, July 15 at 6:00 pm
Wintergreen Festival Orchestra; Sameer Patel, guest conductor; Mary Elizabeth Bowden, trumpet
In this unique MountainTop Masterworks, you’ll experience two unexpected trumpet concertos, led by guest conductor Sameer Patel and infused with his “infectious enthusiasm for music.” Enjoy an up-close performance with an instrument that typically sits in the back row! Trumpeters can be lyrical, joyful painters and poets – especially under the skillful mastery of Mary Elizabeth Bowden. Clarice Assad’s Bohemian Queen (Co-Commissioned by Wintergreen Music) paints a musical picture of Chicago artist Gertrude Abercrombie, while Reena Esmail’s world premiere of Rosa de Sal takes you on a dream-like journey of beauty and love. Top it all off with a buoyant symphony by Beethoven and you have the epitome of the “typical yet unique” Wintergreen Music experience.
