MountainTop Masterworks I: Barber Violin Concerto with Elisabeth Adkins
Sunday, July 9 at 3:00 pm (pre-concert talk at 2:00 pm)
Wintergreen Festival Orchestra; Erin Freeman, conductor; Elisabeth Adkins, violin
Artistic Director Erin Freeman takes the podium leading the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra in the first weekend of MountainTop Masterworks performances with “music to match the view”. From composer Emilie Mayer (known for lush, romantic, Beethoven-style compositions) to Wintergreen’s own concertmaster Elisabeth Adkins, we honor the rich contributions that women have made to the music world. With a special performance of the beautiful Chorale for Strings by the late Ukrainian composer Hanna Havrylets and the sweepingly stunning Barber Violin Concerto, this concert is as rich in historical interest as it is in artistic inspiration.
Concert Program:
W.A. Mozart: Overture to Così fan tutte, K. 588
Hanna Havrylets: Chorale for string orchestra
Samuel Barber: Violin Concerto, op. 14
