The women's vocal ensemble In Mulieribus, led by Dr. Anna Song, is joined by Camerata PYP, the advanced chamber orchestra of Portland Youth Philharmonic, presenting the World Premiere of Jessica Meyer's new composition, Because I Will Not Despair.
Meyer's new work is paired with Hurry to the Light, composed by Emmy Award-winner Kareem Roustom. Roustom's 2019 piece is a setting of excerpts from Emily Wilson's new, highly-acclaimed English translation of Homer's Odyssey — the first woman to translate this epic text.
