Special Production in partnership with Artists at Play

Two Friends, Twenty Years, One Difficult Conversation.

Artists at Play in collaboration with The Clark Family Cultural Center present DISSONANCE, a poignant look at relationships and race set in Pensacola’s Historic Belmont-DeVilliers community, affectionately known as “The Blocks.” DISSONANCE is a new work written by Florida born Alabama based playwright/actress Marci J. Duncan in collaboration with Pensacola based playwright/actress, Kerry Sandell.

Angela and Lauren have been friends for more than 20 years. They met in graduate school, became godmothers to each other’s children, and are now starting a new business. As they open their cafe in a historic black neighborhood in Pensacola, Florida, they uncover deeply-held perceptions that threaten to dismantle their friendship.

Dissonance is a heart-warming conversation that explores the national hurt following George Floyd’s murder and how it impacts both black and white American women.
