These Shining Lives
by Melanie Marnich Directed by April Poland
The Radium Dial company hires women like Catherine in the 1920s and 30s to paint watch faces with glow-in-the-dark paint. As they dip their brushes into the paint, little do they know they are poisoning themselves. Strange symptoms begin to appear, but the company denies the radium’s danger. Catherine and friends struggle to find adequate medical treatment and a lawyer willing to take on their case. Their friendship, courage, and perseverance inspire us to find grace for our own battles.
