The Spitfire Grill

by James Valcq and Fred Alley; based on the film by Lee David Zlotoff

Directed by Michael Kirkland

Stuck in the fading small town of Gilead, Wisconsin, the aging Hannah has been trying to sell her restaurant for a decade. Her nephew Caleb is out of work and out of sorts and takes it out on his wife Shelby. Joe the sheriff is lonely, and Effy is a gossip. When young Percy, newly released from jail, arrives in town, everyone is forced to grapple with their broken lives and need for forgiveness. At Percy’s suggestion, Hannah decides to raffle off the grill, with entries at $100 plus an essay describing why you want the grill. Mail pours in from across the country, every entrant hungry for redemption. With its gorgeous soulful score, scenes of reconciliation and hopeful themes, The Spitfire Grill will warm your heart.
