Ready, Set, Improvise!

Get ready to enter the world of spontaneous creativity at “Ready, Set, Improvise!” This workshop is for anyone curious about Improv, who wants to get better at thinking on their feet, being more spontaneous, or being a better listener. Together, we will learn some basic principles that make improv fun and surprising. We will also play some improv games in a positive, supportive environment where every choice is celebrated.

This workshop is for anyone over the age of 21, who wants to give it a try. No experience is necessary.

About Kevin Mullaney
The workshop will be taught by Kevin Mullaney. Kevin has been teaching improv for over 25 years at world-renowned theaters like Second City, The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York, and iO Theater in Chicago. He is the host of the Improv Resource Center Podcast and the former Artistic Director of the Chicago Improv Festival.

During his time teaching at The UCB Theatre, he served as the head of their education program, overseeing classes which served thousands of students each year. He also served as the Artistic Director at UCB.

Over the years, he has coached many improv ensembles and directed shows in Chicago and New York, including Based On a True Story, Trending, Haunted, This Film is Not Yet Made, Vampyre Hunter High, Dear James Franco, Space Warps, A Swarm of Spoilers, Tracers, Retraced, Individually Wrapped, and The Swarm in Slow Waltz Around Rage Mountain. He has also created a number of tournaments and competition shows like The Cagematch, The UCB Annual 3 on 3 Tournament, The Improv Classic, and The Tournament of Shows.

In 2015, he won an INNY award for “Best Improv Comedy Instructor/Coach” from Improvisation News.

He recently moved back to Central Illinois where he grew up and hopes to start an improv program there.
