Symbolizing the relationships between Brahms and Clara and Robert Schumann, Romanze represents the complex journey of love and romance. This musical love triangle between Brahms and the Schumanns blossomed after Brahms became a close friend to Clara and Robert. Though we may never know the true, complicated story of Clara and Brahms, we do know this is classical music’s most tragically romantic love triangle.
