Sierra Madre Playhouse presents an evening with violinist Dayren Santamaria. Born in Matanzas, Cuba, to a musician father and an actress mother, Dayren started playing the violin at age 8.
She has traveled globally, showcasing her versatility in various musical styles. In 2015, Dayren formed "Dayren Santamaria & Made in Cuba" with prominent Los Angeles musicians, gaining acclaim for their national and international performances.
Dayren is the Musical Director for the TV show "Noches Con Platanito," where she composes, arranges, and conducts. Her career began with the National Symphony Orchestra of Havana and as concertmaster of Camerata Romeu. She holds a Master of Music and Performance from the University of South Florida and has recorded and performed with numerous artists.
Since relocating to Los Angeles in 2007, she has worked closely with Oscar Hernandez, exploring Latin, Latin-Jazz, and salsa music. Dayren has also collaborated with Hubert Laws, Jose Rizo's Mongorama, and Andy Garcia's CineSon All Stars, showcasing her skills in classical, jazz, R&B, salsa, and Cuban folkloric music.
Dayren's performance at Sierra Madre Playhouse offers a chance to experience her dynamic range on both acoustic and electric violin. Tickets are priced between $12 and $35 for an evening of musical excellence.
