I think Don Carlo is the quintessential Verdi opera, says Director Nicholas Hytner, who made his Met debut with this production of the composers epic drama of love and politics. Yannick Nzet-Sguin conducts Roberto Alagna in the title role, and Ferruccio Furlanetto, Marina Poplavskaya, Anna Smirnova, and Simon Keenlyside also star.
