7-9 pm

Coming Home is the long-awaited reunion concert by members of the nationally touring, 70’s show band, Deep South. Band members, Jackie Marston (lead vocals) David Dix (Drums) and Jeff Browder (Percussion) will be joined by local favorite, Jason DeCristofaro (piano, vibes) and several other fine local musicians for the concert, which will feature a blend of classics, jazz and original music and benefit the Columbus, NC based nonprofit, Steps to HOPE.

Steps to HOPE works to create a community free from the violence of domestic and sexual assault through education, advocacy and victim assistance.

Jackie Marston:

Originally from Concord, MA, Jackie studied voice at the Boston Conservatory of Music, and began working as a songwriter and lead vocalist in show bands in the ‘70’s. She then spent many years living in Las Vegas, opening for celebrities and as the featured vocalist in the main showrooms throughout the city. Jackie has been mentored throughout her songwriting career by famed producer (Mamma Mia!) and Playtone co-founder (with Tom Hanks) Gary Goetzman. She is currently working with five-time Grammy winner, Tony Prendatt, producer of Vanessa Williams' latest album for which two of Jackie's original songs are under consideration.

David Dix:
Originally from Tampa, FL, drummer, David Dix began playing professionally while still a teen ager. Following several years touring with show bands, David joined the Southern Rock Band, The Outlaws. David toured with the Outlaws for a decade in the United States and Europe, collecting, along with his bandmates, four gold records and working with acclaimed producers Clive Davis and Mutt Lang. David continues to join The Outlaws for several gigs each year.

Jeff Browder:
Arriving in Tampa, Fl while still in grade school, Jeff received a literal “garage band” upbringing. Inspired by the likes of Santana, War, Cold Blood and Malo, with added doses of African groups like Osibisa, plus mainstream Latin music from Mongo Santamaria and the entire genre, Jeff soon began playing Latin/Afro-Cuban percussion. He joined the “show band” scene after his first year in college and went on to play with singer/composer Bertie Higgins (Key Largo). Jeff then joined one of Tampa Bay’s premier bands, opening for some large acts locally, and recorded an album at Morrisound Studios in Tampa, featuring the late Robbie Steinhardt (Kansas) and David Muse (Firefall, Marshall Tucker Band).

Dr. Jason DeCristofaro:
Jason is one of the busiest musicians, composers and teachers in the southeast. He’s a triple threat, playing vibes, piano and drums, with everyone, seemingly all the time. Jason is a community-focused musical entrepreneur and busy professor with duties at AB Tech, Warren Wilson College and East Tennessee State University.
