TEDx Sun Prairie West High School is a community event focused on social enrichment and knowledge. The world renowned nonprofit organization TED, granted an event license to a student in order to curate the event.

The event will have four TED Talks and will be divided into two rounds with an intermission. During intermission, there will be catering, activity booths, and networking opportunities.

Shreya Bhargava: The importance of failure

Involvement in extracurriculars such as DECA, National Honor Society, Forensics, and Student Council has given Shreya an intricate experience in high school. Her talk is focused on how society needs to remove the stigma of failure, and redefine failure as a process. She dives into how culture and expectation can use failure to cast shame, and how it needs to be seen as growth.

Eric Piotrowski: How I found hope (and myself) by resisting genocide

Mr. Piotrowski is a passionate teacher with over 20 years of experience! His classes include AP Language and Composition, Creative Writing, English, and Interdisciplinary Poetics. He is also the advisor for the school's Amnesty International Club. His talk is focused on his experience in East Timor, bringing a hidden genocide into light and sharing how being in East Timor changed his life for the better.

Suhani Pandey: The need for passion

Her large participation in school extracurriculars and out of school interests such as DECA, National Honor Society, Forensics, and leadership in a non-profit in Nepal has inspired her to share the importance of passion. A combination of her culture and love for volunteering has motivated her to talk about how passion has driven her to success. This talk is mainly influenced by her organization called the Jageshwar Foundation, which focuses on disaster recovery in Nepal.

Marcus Porter: Hip-Hop Performance

Performing in several venues across the Madison Area such as Memorial Union, Capitol Square and Breese-Stevens Field, Marcus Porter is a profound artist who's involved in the music genres of Rap and R&B. In addition to being a professional producer and artist, he works in the sound studios at both Sun Prairie high schools and Phoenix Academy. His talk is in the form of a concert, and he will perform four of his songs for the audience to enjoy.
