The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows a free-spirited postulant, Maria Rainer (Julie Andrews), who serves as governess to the seven children of the authoritative Captain Georg von Trapp (Christopher Plummer), bringing music and joy to the household.
