From the Echo of the Heavenly Harp
Featuring organist Andrew Kotylo and harpist Megan Hoeflicker

Saturday, April 27, 2024 * 4pm
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
22 E. Chestnut Hill Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19118

Mendelssohn Chorus of Philadelphia (MCP) and Artistic Director Dominick DiOrio present a Saturday afternoon program of musical gems for chorus and organ at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chestnut Hill. The program will feature our frequent collaborator Andy Kotylo, Director of Music at St. Paul’s (and self-described “organ nerd”), who is the winner of numerous competition prizes and frequently appears on American Public Media’s Pipedreams, as well as in critically acclaimed concerts throughout the U.S. and England.

The program is anchored by two great works of the choral repertoire: Benjamin Britten's whimsical Rejoice in the Lamb -- set to the poetry of the very eccentric Christopher Smart -- and Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, in its rarely heard chamber version for organ, harp, and percussion. Additional shorter works by Johannes Brahms, César Franck, and Herbert Howells will also be featured, making this an April afternoon of joyous choral splendor.

Please note that our originially scheduled program, the world premiere of Melissa Dunphy's On the Horizon, has been postponed to Spring 2025.
