Composers Cookoff 2024

Three composers will head off in a friendly competition—who can create the most delicious, the most delightful, the most delectable new composition using the secret ingredient, Lil Hardin Armstrong's tune "Struttin with Some BBQ." Dinner from Willie Mae's BBQ is included in the ticket price for all who attend, along with drinks and dessert. Vegetarian options are available.

Offering their critique will be jazz community celebrity judges Gordon Lee, Alex Newman, and Rebecca Sanborn. Performing these new creations will be a chamber quintet with Raul Gomez on violin, Mieke Bruggeman on bass clarinet, Tim Gilson on cello, Tim Willcox on tenor sax and clarinet, and PJCE founder, Andrew Oliver, on piano.
