PRT Youth Conservatory Playwright Series Presents
Lisbela and the Prisoner

Lisbela has always wished that her life was like the golden age movies she sees on the silver screen, so when the circus comes to town bringing along Leléu, a jack of all trades ladies man with unexpected baggage, it turns the town of Vitória de Santo Antão upside down. A wannabe Carioca, former flames, bumbling police officers, and even a hitman all come to a head in this new adaptation and translation of a Brazilian classic, highlighting a young woman’s search for her own voice and happiness. Set against the colorful backdrop of the Brazilian Northeast, let choro, samba, and forró music transport you through the vivid world of Lisbela and the Prisoner. Translated, adapted, and directed by Rachel Frost for her Senior Capstone Project at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.
