The Detroit Concert Choir is Detroit’s internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble, celebrated for exceptional programming and distinctive performances. The choir is in its 38th season and has been under the artistic direction of Dr. Michael A. Mitchell since June 2019.

Dedicated to promoting choral music of high artistic merit and cultural enrichment for the community, the ensemble presents an annual music series featuring some of Metro Detroit’s finest singers and instrumentalists. The choir's 90 voices are comprised of talented musicians from over 40 communities who perform diverse styles of choral music and great classical works for chorus and orchestra.

Throughout its rich history, the Detroit Concert Choir has participated in international choral competitions and received many national and international honors, including the title of “Choir of the World." Fresh from their 2024 European concert tour, the choir will kick off its 38th season at The Hawk this fall.

Detroit Concert Choir is an activity of the Detroit Performing Artists, Inc. The choir’s activities are supported by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
