In the heart of a small American town, a community is torn apart by an unthinkable act of violence. "Drinking Poison," a powerful new play by Cheryl Navo and directed by Nancy Matican-Bock, delves into the raw and complex aftermath of a school shooting.

Drinking Poison is both a dramatic police procedural, fashioned in the “True Crime” model, and an heartfelt exploration of how we attempt to deal with the emotions associated with grief.

Set against the backdrop of a week following the tragedy, the play introduces us to Margaret, a mother haunted by the actions of her son, and Brenda, a counselor tasked with guiding the town through their collective sorrow. As they struggle to comprehend the why behind the violence, they reveal the personal battles and societal issues that lie beneath the surface.

"Drinking Poison" is not just a story about loss; it is a reflection on how we process grief, assign blame, and ultimately find a path forward. It challenges us to look beyond the surface and consider the deeper causes of violence and the ways in which we can support one another in times of crisis.

Due to the intense subject matter, must be 16 years old to attend.
