"Anything Goes" is a musical set on a luxury liner sailing from New York to London. The story revolves around a love triangle involving Billy Crocker, a young businessman in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Billy stows away on the ship to win Hope's affections, aided by nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and a gangster named Moonface Martin. The musical follows their comical escapades and attempts to thwart Hope's engagement.
