CLASSICAL UPRISING presents Mozart’s Requiem Renewal
Sun. November 3, 3:00 PM
Less than half of Mozart’s Requiem, his famous Mass for the Dead, was written by the composer before he died. Realized by classical conductor/composer, Dr. Emily Isaacson, Indie-rock singer-songwriter, Don Mitchell, and film composer, Joel Lindberg, Mozart Requiem Renewal uses every note that Mozart penned and realizes the rest to create a 21st-century celebration of life. Portland's 63- member Oratorio Chorale will be accompanied by a chamber ensemble featuring professional Maine musicians.
Includes pre-concert lecture by Dr. Emily Isaacson, artistic director of Classical Uprising. Learn about Mozart’s process, what he left unfinished, how his students tried to complete the work, and why modern musicologists and composers continue to be fascinated by his Requiem more than 200 years later.
