While at first glance this musical may seem like a ‘coming out’ story, this is, in fact, a ‘letting in’ story. Our star, WILBUR, does not ‘grow’ so much as the society around him does. The other Naked Mole Rats learn to accept that Naked Mole Rat culture and clothes do not necessarily clash. VENTI, TALL, & GRANDE’s greatest fears, that their places in the colony are threatened by clothing, turn out to be unfounded. They learn to bend, to understand, to accept and every-mole becomes more fashionable for it, nude or not.
