Adult African Arts Workshop: Teen and Adult Drum Class

Saturday, March 8th: African Arts Workshops

$25 per class, two classes for $45 or all three classes for $65!

Come out for an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in the cultural arts! A variety of class offerings with guest artists originating from Guinea, West Africa. All levels of students are welcome to classes and encouraged to come experience the joy and connection of African drum and dance! Then, join us on Sunday for Wontanara!

4:00-5:15 Teen and Adult Drum Class
West African drum class will get the beat in your body! This class will be taught by Etienne Tolno and will explore a rhythm from Guinea, West Africa. Class will begin with warming up your hands and learning the basic sounds of the drum. Then multiple parts of a rhythm will be learned with breaks and overlap to form a full musical piece. Please bring your own drum if possible, limited drums will be available for use in class. Youth 12 and under are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Hand drumming is an instrument accessible for all to learn, play and enjoy.
