Since its premier in 1953, The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller, has challenged audiences on their view of morality, the truth, and fear. The play depicts a dramatized story of the Salem Witch Trials of the 1690s as an allegory for McCarthyism. Winner of Best Play at the 1953 Tony Awards.
