The concert begins with Gabriela Lena Frank’s Elegía Andina, a vivid and expressive work that captures a sense of place and emotional depth with colorful orchestration and soaring lines.
Next, Christine Sherlock performs Miklós Rózsa’s Viola Concerto, a lush and dramatic piece by the famed film composer. With its lyrical beauty and passionate intensity, the concerto offers a rare spotlight for the viola as a solo instrument.
