Fall in love with music this Valentine's Day as Music Director candidate Robert Kahn leads a program filled with passion, drama, and sweeping romance. The evening begins with Mendelssohn’s evocative Hebrides Overture, capturing the mystery and majesty of the sea.
Violinist Matthew Hakkarainen takes the stage for Bruch’s beloved Violin Concerto No. 1, a work overflowing with lyricism, emotional depth, and breathtaking beauty.
After intermission, the orchestra performs Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s powerful Ballade in A Minor, a rich and expressive gem that showcases the composer’s dramatic flair. The night concludes with Tchaikovsky’s iconic Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, a timeless musical tale of love and fate, perfect for the occasion.
