The World Looks Different Sitting Down
(a self-produced one-person show)

Written and performed by Teal Sherer
Directed and choregraphed by Jessica Wallenfels

February 20th - March 1st, 2026

From the dark alleyways of Hollywood to surprising celebrity engagements, the life of a working actor is filled with highs and lows. Add a wheelchair into that mix, and you enter the world of Teal Sherer, an actor, mom and disability advocate living a normal, extraordinary life as a wheelchair user. The World Looks Different Sitting Down is a tale of confronting the world at crotch level to bust open misconceptions and limitations. Whether it's falling in love while learning to surf or navigating mommy groups who were all about pushing strollers, Teal tells her story with humor, candidness, and vulnerability. Audiences will leave the show with an expanded view of disability in the world as they witness a fight to not be inspirational but simply to be seen.
Free to the public, a workshop with a post-play discussion. The writer/producer/performer is seeking feedback. Donations gladly accepted.

Runtime: 75 minutes, no intermission.
