JOHNNY FONTANO TRIO
"You've got to go hear this cat...some real stride piano!"
That's what brought Johnny Bones and Neil Fontano together—the start of a wonderful musical connection.
Two cats of different generations that both have a love for the early jazz music and like to breathe new life into it in their own unique way. The music is scintillating, romantic, lively, and original.
Yanos "Johnny" Bones has played and recorded extensively throughout the U.S. and broadly around the globe for decades with various artists. Most prominently he's a core member of the California Honeydrops.
Riley Baker, a multi-instrumentalist gem of the Trad Jazz and Swing communities, recently returned from swinging an American band over in Korea, and brings the snaps and grooves up from the Long Beach scene.
Neil Fontano, a Cinnabar Young Rep Theater alumni, is a music educator in town and has been traveling and playing with Gunhild Carling for a few years. He works regularly around the SF Bay Area and, very recently with Stella Heath led a 10-piece band swinging Billie Holiday music at Luther Burbank Center For The Arts, which included both Riley and Johnny.
This fresh emerging trio is excited to bring their dynamic collaboration out and about!
