Join Michigan author and podcaster, Nina Innsted, as she is joined onstage by fellow writers, Tobin T. Buhk, Tom Carr, and Jenn Carpenter for a lively panel discussion about the true crime genre. Nina Innsted is a Farmington Hills resident and the author of Unsolved Michigan. An award-winning podcast host/producer, she is best known for her work on the Already Gone Podcast. Nina is the outreach coordinator for the Missing in Michigan organization and a credentialed victim’s advocate.
Tobin T. Buhk is a freelance author specializing in historic true crime. To research his first book, Cause of Death, he volunteered in a county morgue. His subsequent true-crime publications include Skeletons in the Closet, True Crime in the Civil War, and Poisoning the Pecks of Grand Rapids.
Tom Carr has written three books in his Blood on the Mitten series of Michigan true crime and dark history, published by Mission Point Press. The award-winning journalist reported on crime and other issues, and wrote a humor column, at the Traverse City Record-Eagle. As a freelancer, he has reported for NPR, Detroit Free Press, New York Daily News and others. Carr is working on his next books near Traverse City, Mich.
Jenn Carpenter is an avid writer and true crime junkie and the author of Haunted Lansing and The Cereal Killer Chronicles. Carpenter is the host of Violent Ends Podcast, the founder of Demented Mitten Tours and Scream Queen Productions and the owner of Deadtime Stories: True Crime and Other Books and The Screamatorium.
